United States House of Representatives

The United States House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the United States Congress, which along with the United States Senate—the upper chamber—composes the legislature of the United States. The structure of the House of Representatives is made up of 435 seats. The House is composed of representatives who sit in congressional districts which are allocated to each of the states on a basis of population. The House of Representatives is part of the legislative branch of the federal government, which creates laws for the American people to follow.

After the Capitol Bombing, 433 members of the House of Representatives were killed. Representatives Kimble Hookstraten and Peter MacLeish, were the only members of Congress to survive the bombing. With all but 2 seats in the House of Representatives vacant, President Kirkman's administration organized Special Elections to fill the seats. Once the Special Elections were held, and the Governors appointed senators, the United States Congress was rebuilt.

162 Independent representatives were elected during the Special Elections, which means a little more than a third on the House of Representatives are Independent.
