The United States Capitol, often called the Capitol Building or Capitol Hill, is the seat of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government.

Two and a half months before the bombing the Capitol underwent renovations which included upgrades on several offices in a first-floor corridor. The True Believers arranged for the subcontractor Margrove to gain clearance to work on a hideaway office room 105. A bomb shelter was built in room 105 as a place for Peter MacLeish to be protected during the state of the union attack.[1]

The United States Capitol was the location for the annual State of the Union address by the President of the United States to the members of the United States Congress. During President Richmond's State of the Union Address, several bombs contained within the Capitol exploded[2]; leaving all of the attendees minus Peter MacLeish dead.Shortly after the bombing emergency services were called in to search for survivors and the FBI was called in to investigate the site.

The remains of the Capitol after the bombing

The day after the attack President Kirkman and Congresswoman Hookstraten went to the Capitol to thank the first responders for their service. While on location Kirkman received an update on the investigation from FBI Deputy Director Jason Atwood. During his speech to the first responders, Kirkman was rushed by members of the crowd when news broke about a Muslim teenager from Michigan being beaten nearly to death. The Secret Service detail evacuated the president from the capital and returned him to the White House. Later that night Kirkman discreetly returned to the Capitol to personally thank the first responders.[3]

It was later shown in the final stages of being rebuilt. [4]

It has since been completely restored. [5]
